Newsletter 7

Newsletter 7,

February 12, 2014

As we are getting closer to the reunion weekend, activity is heating up. Bill Humber and Doug Gammage have their house parties under control – you just have to bring your own alcoholic beverage.  Carolyn Born Kennedy, Janet McDonald Bowler and Ruth Rosen Levkoe are working away on the Friday night reception at the school now named “Memory Mingle”.   More details to follow but I can tell you now there will be lots of decorations, a slide show and good food while we catch up with each other. It was decided it would be easier not to charge anything for this event but fund it with a 50/50 draw and donations.  Any money left over will be donated to the NTCI Foundation.

Next newsletter will be just a stand alone confirmation form to complete so we have a better idea of numbers.  In that regard  I reiterate that spouses are welcome and will not feel too out of place.   And they will keep their spouses honest so that no one claims they are brain surgeons or astronauts  ( unless they actually are ) .

We are still working with the school about our group buying tickets for Maytime Melodies and hopefully we will have that information available shortly. But you can start searching through your photo archives and start sending pictures to Ruth at ruthleahlevkoe@yahoo.ca
Make sure it is a jpeg file and not a pdf file – check your scanner on that technology issue.

The big news is that Bill Schabas who is coming from London England has set up a great Reunion blog on which he has  posted all the bios, even some not yet published,  the database , sections of the yearbook and photos past and present.  And being a blog it will allow for comments.  It is now up and running with the url :  http://ntci68.blogspot.co.uk/?zx=57e63e06329fef93.  Please check it out. It is where you’ll have to keep up to date on the database from now on so the email newsletter will be easier to receive and less chance it will go into junk mail.

Many more bios have come in ( and more promised ) including  one longer bio by Mike Guinness. I did not edit it .  Mike’s  story is quite interesting .  There will be a quiz about Mike’s bio so make sure you read it carefully.  And anyone who now wants to rewrite their bio to provide more detail,  please feel free to do so.

In the database I have published everyone’s e mail address so that classmates can see who is missing and contact each other. However in this world of privacy concerns if you don’t want your email circulated ( worried  it will be sold  to Walmart) please advise .  If you don’t want your picture taken also advise me and I will not take it either. Besides our blog perhaps some video will end up on u tube ( though I would not worry of it going viral).

We still continually find more classmates.  As we are working on the 50th    anniversary and not the 75th and therefore have only a few weeks left I would appreciate a push on to find people.  Janet Toppin Swan and I just recently found my old neighbour and classmate Naomi Siegel by just calling all the N Siegels in Canada .  You can do the same.

I had a few comments about “Why  You Should Attend Your High School Reunion” and a couple of classmates who said they would not write their opinion piece on that  subject  or rewrite their bio to state their opinion. Looking forward to hearing from you or leave a comment on the blog.
